Inspiration

What if Gibson in the 50s had made Les Paul Juniors and Specials from Korina wood? Mass producers, even at that time were set up to do a specific product and they could not deviate from what they were set up to do. Mahogany was simply more readily available and would take finish a certain way and can be worked a specific way with the tools, etc. It just wasn't practical for Gibson to use Korina, other than for low production models, like the Flying V and Explorer.
So I decided to do it. This one is made from a 2-piece body and it also has a Korina neck, which makes this extra special. Both the body and neck is Korina. The fingerboard is what I believe, Rosewood, very nice and I chose to use genuine Pearl dots.

I made the pickups, with the Neck pickup being inspired by the Gibson P13, which was a very early pickup, a predecessor to the P90. The Bridge pickup I made a genuine P90 but somewhat overwound. I gave it a 4-way rotary pickup selector switch. Of course the Volume knob is placed right on the pickguard, where it can be reached while playing. Frets are 24 Stainless Steel.

The wrap bridge is placed perfectly, thus no intonation screws are needed to chew up the stud posts.
